OCEANPORT, NJ — October 18, 2005 — CommVault announced that it will complement the upcoming SharePoint Products and Technologies training series by contributing personnel and expert lecturers during the three month training series. The training series will take place at 38 locations across the United States. Attendees of the training series will be taught how to leverage SharePoint Products and Technologies, enabling them to connect people and information and allowing employees and businesses to be more productive. "Improving the administrative experience and augmenting Windows SharePoint Services is an area that CommVault and its QiNetix product can help," said Adam Bogobowicz, Senior Product Manager at Windows Server Division at Microsoft. The upcoming SharePoint Products and Technologies training will include:

  • Server Protection: CommVault will address the proper ways to ensure that both a Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server are fully protected for disaster recovery.
  • Document Backup and Recovery: Attendees will be taught specific ways to easily backup and perform on-line recovery of individual Windows SharePoint services documents, lists and surveys. Live demonstrations and hands-on opportunities will be offered.
  • VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Services) with Windows SharePoint Services: With SQL and MSDE being the central foundation of hosting SharePoint data, attendees will be taught the benefits of leveraging VSS for database level backup and recovery.
  • Protecting the environment hosting SharePoint Products and Technologies: Protecting the Windows Operating System hosting SharePoint Products and Technologies is critical and attendees will be taught ways to protect internals, such as Microsoft's Active Directory and System State.
  • Various Media Benefits: Attendees will be taught the benefits of specific media devices like tape, SAN, NAS, M/O and DVD. The benefits of using any of these devices for backup, restore and long term storage will be covered.

"We've seen the dramatic raise in deployments over the past year, both for Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server," said Randy De Meno, Director of Advanced Applications and Microsoft Partnership for CommVault. "We're excited and proud to work with Microsoft to educate the user community on the best practices for protecting content on SharePoint Products and Technologies."
