-- Galaxy Express Offering with New StoreVault™ S500 Addresses Key SMB Pain Points Around Backup and Restore, at an Affordable Price --

Oceanport, NJ and Sunnyvale, CA — July 24, 2006 — CommVault, a provider of Unified Data Management™ solutions, and Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that they have signed an agreement to deliver CommVault® Galaxy Express Backup & Recovery software with the StoreVault S500 all-in-one network storage appliance, providing the ultimate in low-cost, reliable data protection and network storage functionality for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

As data protection continues to be a major challenge for SMB customers today, StoreVault, a NetApp division, and CommVault are teaming to enhance backup processes by enabling high-performance backup in heterogeneous network storage environments that consist of multiple operating systems, protocols and networks. As the first provider of network data management protocol (NDMP) data protection for the StoreVault S500, CommVault brings superior technology and complementary value to SMB customers. NDMP provides SMB customers a common architecture for intelligent, efficient network-based backup. The combination of both offerings provides an end-to-end backup solution with enterprise-proven network storage capabilities that is attractively priced for cost-sensitive SMB customers.

The StoreVault S500 provides advanced data protection with patented NetApp® Snapshot™ technology for efficient, frequent backup with up to 255 Snapshot copies, compared to 8 to 64 snapshots from competitive solutions. The addition of CommVault's Galaxy Express product provides SMBs advanced data protection with leading backup and restore capabilities, including the ability for disk-to-disk backup or traditional backup to a SCSI-attached tape device.

In addition, as their needs evolve and their businesses grow, SMBs can upgrade painlessly with a simple 'unlock' license key from Galaxy Express to the enterprise-level protection offered by CommVault's full-featured Galaxy Backup & Recovery. SMBs can maintain full recoverability of existing backup stores as they grow, retaining investments in training, administration and operational expertise and avoiding the traditional upgrade challenges posed by most competing products.

The availability of the CommVault Galaxy Express Backup & Recovery for the StoreVault S500 expands the CommVault and NetApp relationship from enterprise to SMB network storage solutions. With the availability of CommVault Galaxy Express Backup & Recovery for the StoreVault S500, both companies are demonstrating their commitment to make advanced data protection technology affordable for SMB customers.

"With Galaxy Express and the StoreVault S500, CommVault and NetApp are addressing SMB customers' greatest pain points – meeting backup windows, shrinking restore times, managing costs and reducing complexity," said Greg Schulz, founder and senior analyst, the StorageIO group. "This partnership brings to SMBs enterprise functionality at a reasonable price, along with a choice in how and where to store as well as manage backups. The joint offering enables disk-based backup and restore, along with support for tape, tape libraries and NDMP capabilities all based on a single core engine that can scale from SMB to enterprise-level environments via a key-enabled upgrade. StoreVault with Galaxy Express bundles enterprise class functionality to address SMB data protection requirements without enterprise costs to enable significant TCO benefits."
