-- New Tested and Verified Interoperability Helps Customers Increase Backup Efficiency, Reduce Costs and Enhance Reliability and Performance --

OCEANPORT, N.J. — March 10, 2005 — CommVault®, an industry leading provider of Unified Data Management™ solutions, today announced that Galaxy Backup and Recovery software, part of the QiNetix suite, is qualified with the Cisco Network-Accelerated Serverless Backup, SCSI-2 Extended Copy feature. This qualification validates that CommVault software meets the specified test criteria for interoperability with the Cisco standards-based Extended Copy technique, allowing use of the fabric for data movement without changing the existing backup environment. For customers, this capability can facilitate off-loading of input/output (I/O) and processing cycles from CommVault's MediaAgent server, resulting in more efficient backups, fewer media servers and reduced server and administration tasks.

"Using Cisco Extended Copy, applications such as the CommVault Galaxy Backup and Recovery software can help IT administrators backup large amounts of data in shorter backup windows and help reduce backup administration costs," said Ed Chapman, Cisco senior director of product management.

CommVault provides high-performance data management and protection across Windows, UNIX, Linux and Netware heterogeneous enterprises. The software's strengths include a unified browser interface, logical data management, granular data recovery, seamless SAN/NAS integration, powerful media management and first-rate training and support. The Cisco Network-Accelerated Serverless Backup, which uses Extended Copy to allow the Cisco MDS 9000 family of switches and directors, to move the backup data stream from disk storage to tape devices without using a backup server. By pairing this capability with CommVault's data protection software, customers benefit with more efficient backups, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), higher reliability and performance and application investment protection. CommVault and Cisco have worked to deliver strong storage solutions to the market and the Extended Copy qualification is another industry leading solution which extends the existing support for capabilities such as tape streaming and fibre channel write acceleration on the Cisco MDS 9000 platform.

"We are pleased with the delivery of the Cisco Network-Accelerated Serverless backup," said Dave West, vice president of CommVault's business development. "Our customers are always reviewing options for increasing backup efficiencies and reducing costs. With our qualification of Cisco Extended Copy, customers should be in a position to reliably and quickly perform backups without affecting their production operations."
