OCEANPORT, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2007--CommVault(R) (NASDAQ:CVLT) today announced that Dell will deliver the Simpana(TM) 7.0 software suite as part of the companies' OEM agreement. Together, the two companies will offer customers expanded options for Data Protection, Replication and Archive, including new Single Instance Store (SIS), optimized 64-bit integration and support for the latest Microsoft advanced platform capabilities, as well as the ability to discover enterprise information across all tiers of storage. To date, thousands of customers have reaped the benefits of CommVault's unique singular approach to data management and Dell storage solutions.
"At Dell we are looking to simplify IT for our customers," said Praveen Asthana, Director, Storage Worldwide Marketing, Dell Product Group. "Our relationship with CommVault supports our ability to provide solutions that seamlessly integrate into and simplify end-user environments. In addition to a host of new features and functionality, CommVault Simpana 7.0 software allows customers to implement data de-duplication to greatly improve backup-to-disk efficiency."
Commenting on the long-standing relationship with Dell, David West, CommVault's vice president of marketing and business development said, "This announcement further enhances the value we can jointly deliver to customers worldwide. Together, through CommVault's singular approach, Dell and CommVault give customers a simpler way to manage their data, scale their heterogeneous environments, unify their data infrastructure and adapt more quickly to business changes and opportunities."
New Today - Companies Offer Dell Customers Expanded Data Management Solutions
CommVault's simple, secure data management solutions help Dell customers manage data and unlock its value with key new features, including:
-- Single Instance Store - By deploying CommVault's Single Instance Store (SIS) feature in combination with the full range of Dell/EMC and Dell PowerVault storage products, including the new PowerVault MD3000i iSCSI storage array, Dell customers can ensure that redundant data is only stored once across the backup and archive tiers. This increase in disk utilization allows customers to retain more backup copies on disk, thereby greatly decreasing recovery times. -- Content Indexing/Search Embedded - For companies looking to simplify the discovery of data across all tiers of storage, including online, backup and archived data, CommVault Simpana 7.0 offers customers powerful end user and compliance search capabilities. Content Indexing allows customers to get the answers they need for discovery, compliance, legal and discovery search with the ability to perform keyword search of indexed data in files, emails and attachments to emails. -- Seamless Microsoft 2007 Migration Built-in - Customers can accelerate their adoption of 64-bit technology while maximizing their current IT investments. For customers looking to enhance their current Microsoft deployments, CommVault Simpana 7.0 enables end-users to deploy Dell PowerEdge 64-bit Servers, and Microsoft 2007 products with the ability to recover previous versions of Microsoft files, messages and emails, that translates into increased flexibility and compliance as customers migrate to the latest Microsoft platforms.
RWD Technologies (www.rwd.com), a global company that develops and implements organizational performance solutions, chose CommVault for its singular approach to data and information management. With over 1,000 employees serving multi-national and Fortune 500 companies spanning across 20 industries, RWD was facing overwhelming data growth across the organization and looked to CommVault and Dell for a simplified and streamlined way to manage and protect this information. As the company grew, it became obvious to Scott Blancke, storage architect for RWD that the company needed a data management solution that was flexible and could reduce the complexity of its storage environment. Since RWD was already utilizing Dell PowerEdge Servers and Dell PowerVault storage products, Blancke turned to Dell as a trusted resource to help identify the solution to meet RWD's growing data needs.
"Our challenge was finding a way to manage our data growth while ensuring we'd be able to quickly recover and with minimal impact to our business in the event we need to," said Blancke. "Dell helped us implement a back-up solution based on CommVault technology. Now we have the flexibility to seamlessly expand as our environment grows without complex upgrades inherent in competitive products, as well as innovative disk-based features and functionality, including snapshot technology, that allow for simple, clean backups. The results have been immediate. We've seen our backup speeds improve approximately four or five times over what they were before."
