CommVault Simpana Software Suite Now Available for New Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Environments
Along with the Simpana software suite's ability to assist and accelerate upgrades to Windows Server 2008, CommVault also introduced support for the new Microsoft Hypervisor, the built-in virtualization capabilities of Windows Server 2008. CommVault Simpana software enables the management of multiple virtual machines and virtual servers through one consistent web-based interface.
"Our customers tell us that powerful data management solutions are essential to creating dynamic IT environments," said Bill Laing, general manager of the Windows Server division at Microsoft Corp. "By working with CommVault, we are helping provide customers with platforms that can scale, perform and manage at the highest service levels in their environments."
CommVault customers have the ability to rapidly upgrade to some of the newest Microsoft technologies by being able to make older information "Release Independent" thereby helping them to comply with regulatory requirements for the preservation of data. Using CommVault Simpana, customers will be able to restore files from earlier versions (even 32-bit to 64-bit) of Windows (NT4, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, XP and Vista), Linux and UNIX platforms. Additionally, CommVault Simpana is optimized to take advantage of the rich performance benefits of the 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008 to help customers speed recovery and improve the performance of disk-based environments.
The same rapid upgrade capability is also provided for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Exchange Server 2007. CommVault Simpana software provides enhanced granular recovery from earlier versions of Exchange and SharePoint 2003, enabling customers to search, access, and restore data from previous versions of the application.
"CommVault is committed to working with Microsoft to deliver state-of-the-art data management for the Windows Server platform and Microsoft applications and is proud to support Microsoft as we deliver solutions to meet our customers' changing Windows requirements," said Randy De Meno, chief evangelist and Microsoft Partnership, CommVault. "With CommVault's support, our customers can accelerate their upgrades to Windows Server 2008 and put in place an excellent foundation for their Microsoft application environments including Exchange and SharePoint servers."
